Flesh and Bone reviewed by Rob Clough

I thought I'd listed this before but hadn't. This review by Rob Clough of Julia Gfrörer on the Comics Journal is a great one:

The Heavy Hand coming to your face, soon.

Look for it soon.

"I really enjoyed The Heavy Hand. There is a level of high strangeness throughout the book. Chris Cilla is a serious artist who happens to draw funny, and his work has a comic intensity that is most appealing. It's an all-around great effort." -Gerald Jablonski

Mara: Interview

I totally love Benjamin Mara and his comics. He just got interviewed in some trashy men's magazine called GQ: www.gq.com/blogs/the-q/2010/06/pain-is-the-best-teacher-an-interview-with-night-business-creator-benjamin-marra.html

This article, reposted from one of my new favorite blogs, raises a lot of really cool questions that apply to self-publishing in book form too. I like the idea that people are figuring out that printing and owning your own work is so possible.

Olympia Comics Festival: This Weekend!

http://olympiacomicsfestival.org/

This weekend at the Olympia Center (222 Columbia St. NW) in downtown Olympia Washington from 11:30 to 4:30. This show is one of my favorites. And Olympia is a great town to visit! I'll be involved with the following two panels/talks:

12:00 - 12:45 - Making, Publishing, Distributing, and Selling your Comics and Zines - Four publishers, Dylan Williams, Tim Goodyear, Jason Miles, and Christina “Blue” Crow, talk about the process of getting your comics and zines into the hands of the people you want to read them. Learn the basics of the major aspects of doing your own comics. Audience participation and brainstorming is encouraged.

3:00 - 3:45 - Interview with Theo Ellsworth and Austin English - Come meet Theo Ellsworth (Capacity) and Austin English (Windy Corner) and watch as Dylan Williams from Sparkplug Comics asks them questions. Then ask some questions yourself.
